Mission Neighborhood Centers (MNC) is seeking a full-time, Chief Operating Officer (COO) who will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational responsibility for all MNC programs. The COO provides leadership to MNC’s strategic planning process and will implement new programmatic strategic initiatives, that are aligned to the organization’s strategic goals, mission and values. In addition, the COO will: work with the Executive Management Team; serve as liaison to MNC’s partners; and work with the Board of Directors to keep them abreast of programmatic strategies and challenges.

Our ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills; the ability to objectively meet difficult and/or emotional situations in a professional and tactful manner; good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions and possesses strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Primary Duties

  • Work in conjunction with the CEO and leadership team to develop and advance MNC’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.

  • Leads a comprehensive planning process to monitor, coordinate and oversee development projects to maximize the use of MNC’s real estate assets.

  • Prepare and submit an annual operational budget, manage effectively within the budget, and report accurately on progress made and challenges encountered.

  • Bolster mechanisms for ongoing process improvements

  • Strengthen the infrastructure of the organization by ensuring effective data collection and technology

  • Provide programmatic leadership of MNC’s strategic plan implementation processes.

  • Oversees the Director of HR to enable growth, collaborate on talent management solutions and consultation to maximize engagement, retention and minimize risk. 

  • Along with the Director of HR; lead, develop and deploys human resources strategies, initiatives and processes, including talent acquisition and management, on-boarding, immigration, training and development, performance management, compensation, succession planning, employee relations, associate engagement, retention strategies, organization design and change management.

  • Oversees the Facilities Specialist in leading multiple property facilities maintenance, contracted services for major construction across several sites, reduce facility costs, and provide quality state-of-the art learning environments.

  • Oversee the Data/Technology Specialist to ensure that the organizations’ telecom/IT provides a sound network and infrastructure for the organization

  • Responsible for the Office Administration Department that provides clerical and administrative support to the organization.

  • Build and run a strong administrative/operational infrastructure, effectively linking HR, IT, Facilities Management and Administration.

  • Lead, coach, develop, and retain MNC’s high-performance senior management team and develop capacity in strategic analysis, planning and program budgeting.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s Degree preferred.

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience of senior-level experience of business management, including office administration, financial oversight, leading, supervising, mentoring or directing others in work performance.

  • Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access). Knowledge of ADP, HRIS/Payroll systems desired.

  • Proven ability to manage and lead multiple projects and meet deadlines, including the ability to manage priorities and workflow, as well as plan, organize, and implement programs and procedures.

  • Management level non-profit experience is a plus!

  • Human Resources experience is a plus!

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Benefits

This position is full time with a salary range of $110,000 to $125,000 (commensurate with experience), plus an excellent benefit package, which includes a great work culture and an amazing SF location – the Mission and Excelsior Districts’ melting pot of cultures, cuisines and colorful Latino markets; close to BART, upscale restaurants and the best taquerias and street foods.
